Simpson University's Edward Min Receives 2015 Excellence in Outdoor Leadership Award

Simpson University's Edward Min of Orangevale, Calif., received the 2015 Excellence in Outdoor Leadership award for academics, leadership, and service.

Min's major is Outdoor Leadership.

The Excellence in Outdoor Leadership award is given to a student who has:

  • Increased awareness of and respect for him/herself, others, the environment, and God.
  • Embodied the varied traits of an outdoor leader, including dedication to a life of study; wisdom with regard to decision making; proficiency as an experiential educator; and competency with technical skills.
  • Through discipline, cultivated a life of virtue and has grown in Christian character.

"Edward has shown dedication to his own learning by carefully tailoring assignments in ways that will both challenge him and benefit his future career interests," said Amy Smallwood, assistant professor of outdoor leadership. "Edward has used his summers well by working within the field and gaining valuable experience that he can bring back to the classroom."
